Technology Investment Network (TIN) is a private company with a simple mission: to help facilitate the growth of the technology sector in New Zealand. The TIN team delivers on this through research and analysis; facilitating networking and information sharing events; and through the TIN membership offering.

TIN is the leading independent source of information on New Zealand’s technology exporting sector, and has been collecting and analysing data on Kiwi tech companies for over 17 years.

The annual TIN Report includes detailed analysis of sector performance for the year, ranking the top 200 technology export companies by revenue and publicly recognising high growth achievers with a series of annual awards. Since 2016, the TIN Report has also included an annual listing of 100 promising Early Stage Companies.

In addition, TIN undertakes research and analysis, on request, for industry participants, professional services firms, investors and Government clients.

The second edition of the Healthtech Insights Report is one of TIN's ongoing series of New Zealand sector specific reports providing insights into the growing technology ecosystem and the investment opportunities that exist in the NZ tech sector.

The report provides a closer look into New Zealand’s healthcare technology sector based on data from TIN’s 2021 survey results, including size and significance, key export markets, investment challenges and opportunities, along with a comprehensive directory of 146 pipeline Healthtech companies -- those from pre-revenue to $3.5m.

In the 2021 TIN Report, Healthcare was the dominant sector, contributing 20.7% of overall TIN revenue.

A total of 22 New Zealand Healthtech firms in the 2021 TIN Report generated a combined $2.9B in revenue – cementing its position as both the largest and fastest-growing secondary sector for the TIN200.

The sector’s growth of $738m in 2021 accounted for just over half of the total TIN200 growth (51.2%).

Most of the sector’s revenue comes from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, which generated $1.97B in revenue in its 2021 financial year. This result helped spearhead the domination of the Devices category within the sector, followed by Diagnostics & Therapeutics, and then Digital Health & Health IT.

For the last two years, TIN has been formalising our network of New Zealand’s most ambitious technology exporters through the establishment of the TIN Membership community.
