The recent news that MFAT has launched a newBarriers website will be welcomed by many TIN companies. The website has been designed to help exporters notify government of non-tariff barriers that are holding them back from competing effectively overseas, and to remove the guesswork for those who are unsure about where to turn for help.
The issue of trade barriers is a common concern among TIN companies and is a theme we’re highlighting in this year’s TIN Report. These barriers can include a wide range of issues — from government policies, through to regulations that favour local suppliers. It’s believed they’re costing New Zealand businesses billions of dollars every year, according to MFAT.
