There were two big announcements made in Auckland this week.

The first was to remain in Level 3, with some small restrictions eased. While it was essentially a small shift it created a lot of discussion.

It’s natural to want simple answers to complex problems, especially the problem of COVID, but it’s also vitally important to be able to simplify complex issues to clarify a path of action.

As a country, we know where we want to get to with regard to COVID. A roadmap will help us get there – but when you follow the ‘certainty’ of a map, you still have to be aware of changing conditions and unexpected circumstances as you drive. Entrepreneurial tech companies understand the importance of being open to change with rapidly evolving circumstances.

To know where you’re going, you need an idea of where you’ve been – and that was the theme of the other big announcement this week, that on November 4th, TIN will be sharing some clear detail of how the NZ tech export sector has travelled over the past year at the 2021 TIN Report launch.

For the tech sector, it will provide a clear idea of where we’ve been, so to provide some guidance for where to go from here. We’ll be joined by Peter Beck from Rocket Lab, among others, to inspire us for the year ahead with stories from their journey over the year that’s been.

Focus, clarity, flexibility and speed. All elements of a winning approach to tech success.

Kia kaha Aotearoa!

Greg and the TIN Team
