Veriphi is a New Zealand MedTech company that has developed a revolutionary analyser using lasers, cloud connectivity, and artificial intelligence to verify intravenous (IV) drug identity and concentration – helping prevent IV medication errors.
Digital Health Festival Launch
Veriphi is preparing to launch its next-generation CAV4 Analyser at the Digital Health Festival in Melbourne this May. The festival attracts more than 8,000 healthcare decision-makers, ranging from senior clinicians to C-suite leaders across Australia and the broader region, providing a significant platform for international growth.
The CAV4 Analyser
The CAV4 reflects insights gained over the past twelve months through real-world use of Veriphi’s current analyser at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne aseptic compounding pharmacy.
During this period:
- More than 300 tests have been performed
- Over a dozen software enhancements have been implemented
In addition to functional improvements, all CAV4 system controls are now fully integrated into the device itself. Previously operated via a companion laptop, the analyser is now fully self-contained – significantly reducing required bench space and improving usability in busy pharmacy environments.

St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne Partnership
Veriphi maintains a strong and collaborative relationship with St Vincent’s. Pharmacy Manager Andrew Cording was recently quoted in Healthcare IT News:
“The results have been promising. The device has successfully identified errors before products reached patients and added a layer of safety that is objective and digital, reducing the cognitive burden on staff.”
Veriphi is now expanding its drug data library to include anaesthetic medications for use in operating theatres at St Vincent’s.
Next Steps
Veriphi is actively recruiting customers in Australia and the Northern Hemisphere. The company’s recurring revenue model will be driven by three service streams:
- Leasing of the analyser
- Data services
- Proprietary syringes and IV bags
Globally, an estimated 60 IV doses are administered to hospital patients every second – underscoring the scale of opportunity and impact.
New Zealand veterinarian Colin Murdoch invented and patented the disposable syringe – a reminder of the country’s long-standing contribution to global syringe innovation. Veriphi aims to bring global leadership in IV medication safety back to New Zealand – where modern syringe innovation began.
