Auckland, 18 November 2020 – Technology Investment Network (TIN) announced today Healthcare ICT company Volpara Health Technologies as the winner of this year’s TIN Rocket Award in the 2020 TIN Report, at its virtual, interactive launch event, Tech Pulse 2020.
The TIN Rocket Award recognises the company that has gained the most places in the TIN200 rankings for the year. Volpara Health Technologies, which develops and manufactures AI-powered breast cancer screening technology, climbed 54 places this year with revenue growth of $7.6m (153%).
This increase also earned it top place on the Absolute IT Supreme Scale-Ups awards list in its debut year. Since buying US company MRS systems in 2019, Volpara Health Technologies has a dominant market position in the US, with an expanded product portfolio, and benefitted from the increased acceleration towards digital healthcare that has occurred in the industry over the last year.
“It’s exciting to see the great strides that Volpara Health Technologies has made in the past year, and we’ll watch their continued rise with interest,” said Greg Shanahan, managing director of TIN.
“This year has seen an unprecedented number of companies move more than ten places up the TIN200 rankings, with 14 of the 25 gaining more than 20 places,” he said.
The TIN Report monitors the performance of New Zealand’s 200 (TIN100 and Next100) largest technology exporters in the areas of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), High-tech Manufacturing and Biotechnology. It is sponsored by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Absolute IT, BNZ, EY, James & Wells and NZX.
The 2020 TIN Report shows that export revenue for the TIN200 companies rose by 10.6% to a total of $9.4B this year. TIN200 revenue reached $12.7B in 2020, slightly less than the $1B annual growth recorded in the previous two years, but overall, the TIN200 shows ongoing strong growth in the face of tough economic headwinds.
